University of Washington is a large public university. The university enrolls both undergraduate and postgraduate students, In 2012, the number of its undergraduates has reached 30,790 while the number of its postgraduates has reached 12,177.

University of Washington was founded in the year of 1861, which means it is one of the oldest universities on the West Coast. The university has a large campus, located in the urban area of Seattle, Washington, covering an area of 643 acres.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants for the university are required to possess high school diplomas. General Educational Development (GED) is equally effective. It also requires applicants to take standardized tests like SAT or ACT (ACT with writing test is required). At the same time, the university also requires a general college-preparatory program. Among all non-academic factors, successful extracurricular activities and volunteer work usually give the applicant an advantage.

COSTS AND FINANCIAL AID

The tuitions and fees for year 2011-2012 is USD 10,574. Students spend USD 9,399 averagely for accommodation.

There are two kinds of scholarships available at UW. The Need-based Scholarships will offer students up to USD 10,800 and the called Non-need-based Scholarships will offer students up to USD 3,150.
